An iconic fashion meeting of two design minds, the industry’s two big dogs: Fendace, the design mashup we didn’t realise we needed up until now.
Collaborations come and go, leaving a print on the memory in their hyped up wake but this time it has hit different. Insistent that this is more than just a ‘collaboration’ and more the ‘coming together of Fendi and Versace, two iconic fashion houses, or more rightly, two iconoclastic groups of people, has led to this unique moment in fashion.” How right they are.
Opening up their designer archives (can you imagine the treasure trove this must be?!) and swapping their top designers to create something undeniably unique and unequivocally sensational. The inspiration behind this motif magic? Friendship. In amongst a dog eat dog world where even the best can take a catwalk fall, it is refreshing to see these two players join forces in the field.
Fendace represents the need for sincerity in the fashion world today, and not just strategy. It empowers the essence of what the creative industry is about; talent, design and authenticity.
VERSACE BY FENDI is inspired by the nineties period of the company, and explores the concept of duality and sees the coming together of the Fendi Monogram with the Versace Greek Key motif.
The FENDI BY VERSACE collection, meanwhile, takes a punk rock approach with Donatella Versace opting to showcase disruption. For instance, Versace safety pins puncture Fendi signs and symbols as a sign of this chaos.
Kim Jones, Artistic Director Fendi Couture and Womenswear and Silvia Venturini-Fendi took on the design to showcase their take on the vision of Versace. Meanwhile, Donatella Versace, Chief Creative Officer, Versace, took upon herself to interpret Fendi from her creative eye. And we couldn’t love the wonders they’ve designed anymore.
With ten worldwide pop-up shops showcasing the full collection, fans have had a front row seat in being able to purchase the items in the flesh. First unveiled on the runway for SS22, we’ve had our very ow glance here at Fashion Catwalk in Dubai Mall. Other full-fledged stores popped up in NYC, LA, London, Kuwait, Paris, Tokyo, Osaka and Shenyang each offering a fully immersive experience.
“Fendace is Fashion with a capital F – and a capital V.”
