Metal trees and bushes with LED-covered canopies, bring light and color into Bay Area’s favorite park. The installation made by the American artist Charles Gadeken, was on view from December 10th, 2020 till April 6th, 2021 at Golden Gate Park’s Peacock Meadow in San Francisco.

The installation

By merging nature and technology, the artist has enriched the green landscape of the Golden Gate Park with multi-colored, imaginative replicas of natural elements.  Trees covered in LED cubes, emanating satisfying, constantly changing lights imitate natural processes such as rain, lightning, thunder, wind… Apart from luminous trees, the installation also features fascinating, sparkling shrubbery, covered with over 2000 LED lights. Varied in heights and colors, the combination of trees and flower clusters creates a vibrant and dazzling atmosphere.

The works are dispersed around the park, allowing the visitors to walk around the setup while practicing social distancing. Various heights of artworks, enable the viewers to interact with the installation in a multitude of ways, whether it is by inspecting brightly colored bushes from up-close, or by sitting below a whimsical tree.

Entwined Meadow installation is specifically designed to celebrate San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park’s 150th anniversary. Although the exhibition is closed, for the time being, its author Charles Gadeken, claims that his latest body of work could make a returned visit to the park in the near future.
